DFW DALLAS FORT WORTH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
TERMINAL C PARKING GARAGE
The gross floor area is approximately 650,000sf and the Cobiax USA voids will cover approximately 460,000sf. The use of the voided slab system resulted in a dead load reduction of about 11,000 cubic yards of concrete or approximately 22,300 Tons. The removal of the concrete resulted in less cement and a lower carbon footprint reduced by 2,400 Tons of CO².
The Cobiax USA voids are produced in Easton, PA with availability within 2 to 3 weeks from shop drawing approval and are shipped nationwide.
PROJECT VOIDED SLAB ACHIEVEMENTS:
60 ‘ spans without beams
Dead Load reduction: 11,000 cubic yards
Carbon footprint reduced by 2,400 tons of CO²
Combined voided slab and post-tensioned solutions
The structural floor system designed by the Architectural/Structural engineering firm, Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK) consists of two-way PT banded-banded slabs with approximately 60'x60' bays. The parking slabs are 20" thick (roof is 26") and will use Cobiax USA CLS-V-15" voids (CLS-V-20" in the roof) that are domestically produced and will displace approximately 33% of the concrete in the voided sections.
