NOKIA AT NEW BRUNSWICK
10 FRENCH STREET, NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ 08901
The gross floor area at the second floor is approximately 33,000sf and the Cobiax USA voids will cover approximately 19,000sf. The use of the voided slab system resulted in a dead load reduction of about 630 cubic yards of concrete or approximately 1,300 Tons. The removal of the concrete resulted in less cement and a lower carbon footprint reduced by 136 Tons of CO².
The Cobiax USA voids are produced in Easton, PA with availability within 2 to 3 weeks from shop drawing approval and are shipped nationwide.
PROJECT VOIDED SLAB ACHIEVEMENTS:
Accommodated stringent vibration requirements
Dead Load reduction: 630 cubic yards
Carbon footprint reduced by 136 tons of CO²
The structural floor system at the 2nd floor was designed by Thornton Tomasetti consists of 48” thick two-way slabs with approximately 30'x30' bays. The slab is designed to house new Quantum computing systems with very stringent vibration requirements of 250 mips (micro-inches per second). In order to balance stiffness and mass to meet the vibration criteria, the design team selected Cobiax USA CLS-V-22 voids that are domestically produced.
